Myself and my husband took the 1 and a half hour trip as part of our honeymoon. We chose to book the entire barge out to ourselves and it was intimate and relaxing. The onboard bar was well stocked, though we don't drink, and I liked that it was self serve too! We sat outside and it was comfortable, the inside was cozy as well. The trip itself was beautiful and slow. We were hoping to see some birds and wildlife and it didn't disappoint. Thanks to our skipper, who was extremely knowledgeable and willing to chat and share, we spotted a peregrine falcon and a sparrow hawk! He introduced is to all the lovely birds along the way - next time we hope to spot the elusive kingfisher! We got a turn of driving the boat too which was amazing! As someone who has always dreamed of living on a barge this was the trip of dreams and we can't wait to come back through the different seasons and get to experience the locks in action/learn and see more. I can't sing the praises of our skipper more highly - he was so friendly and chatty but didn't force conversation at all. I only wish I asked his name! I booked a Barge trip as an early birthday gift for my husband & to say he was happy would be an understatement, from the moment we arrived at the meeting point , we were greeted by Chris our guide , he was extremely friendly & professional, he guided us through the canals & gave us so much History on not only canal life but flora & fauna too . Had a fantastic trip with Barge Trips. We went over to the Leinster Aqueduct and heard about the history along the way as well as enjoyed the peaceful scenery. Totally recommend 👌 you can even enjoy refreshments on board 👍

A really lovely activity for all ages. Im sorry we didnt book a longer cruise but we will be back and next time we definitely will. The team were informative and friendly and we learned lots about the history of the canal and saw lots of wildlife.
