ECO Policy


We recognise that our business has an important role to play in protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations and to help secure the long-term sustainability of the Tourism Industry. The Grand Canal is a pristine habitat for wildlife and we acknowledge and accept our role in its protection.

 

To this end Bargetrip Limited is committed to taking the following action;

  • To achieve sound environmental practices across our entire operation.
  • To produce an annual Environmental Plan setting out our Objectives, Targets and planned Actions.
  • To comply fully with all relevant legislation.
  • To minimise our waste and reduce our water consumption where possible.
  • To reduce, Reuse, Recycle the resources consumed by our business wherever practical
  • To invite our customers, suppliers and contractors to participate in our efforts to protect the environment.
  • To provide all employees with the training and resources required to meet our objectives.
  • To openly communicate our policies and practices to interested parties.
  • To monitor and record our environmental impacts on a regular basis and compare our performance with our policies, objectives and targets.

Energy – To reduce our absolute consumption by 5% by 2027

Water – To reduce our use by 5% by 2027

Waste – To reduce landfill by 20% by 2027

Behind these broad targets we have a series of planned actions which will be designed to deliver each of them. Each year we will review our targets and update them and report here on how we have done and keep you informed of the specific actions we are implementing to achieve them.

Some of our 2026 planned actions include;

  • Achieve the GREENMark Eco-Friendly Business.
  • Convert 100% of all lights to LED’s.
  • Source solid fuel for stoves from Sustainable sources.
  • Install water management devices to control the flow of water through taps and showers without reducing service quality.
  • Work towards eliminating Single Use Plastics.
  • Train all staff in being more aware of energy, water and waste management.
  • Track our energy, water and waste impact monthly.
  • Buy Tea, Coffee and Sugar from a Responsible Source.
  • Become a member of Leave no Trace and promote it to all our visitors.
  • Upgrade our website with information about our sustainability programme.
